About Me

I am a detail-obsessed control freak - and I'm not afraid to admit it!

I have been known to read books on punctuation and grammar for fun.  My husband has had to restrain me more than once to prevent my correcting errors on restaurant menus and public signs.  I have an inexplicable internal drive to correct spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.  In addition to that, I am an avid reader (in all honesty, I used to read shampoo bottles in the shower as a teenager just to have something to read while my conditioner did its job).  I decided to combine my compulsion to correct with my love of reading into a career opportunity.

Don't get the wrong idea - I recognize that sometimes the creative impulse requires breaking the rules, and I promise not to squelch your creativity if you send me fiction to review.  For non-fiction and business documents, however, I will be a stickler for the rules.

Why Green Ink?

When I was a high school student, I had one teacher who always marked our papers with a green pen.  After a lifetime of seeing nothing but red ink correcting our mistakes, we students were curious as to why she chose green.  Her response struck a chord with me:  red means stop; green means go.  She didn't want us to see our mistakes as stopping points or deal-breakers.  She wanted us to see them as opportunities to keep moving forward, learning more and improving our skills.  When I was a teacher, I also always graded in green ink.  I like the message it sends.
What do my clients have to say?

"It has been a pleasure working with Jennifer. She is creative with her ideas and will definitely steer you in the right direction to make your literature/work come alive. In addition, she responds to her clients in a timely fashion, which makes you feel as if you are the only customer she has. I definitely recommend others to send her a sample of their work. You will not be sorry!"  Ayesha Shoulders

"Jennifer is very thorough and professional in her editing whether it is a resume, a college essay, or masters thesis.  Her suggestions do not undermine your research, rather they strengthen your argument and provide extensions for further thought.  I always feel more confident with her extra set of eyes on my work!"  Amanda Farrell
