All rates are quoted per page edited.  An industry standard is 250 words per page, based on the average word-count of a double-spaced 12-point standard font typed page with 1-inch margins.  To discern the number of pages your document has by this standard, divide the total word count by 250.  The reason I have set my rates per page instead of hourly is because all editors are different and all compositions are different - neither you nor I can know how long it will take me to edit your particular document.  Using per-page pricing, there are no surprises - you know up front how much it will cost for the work to be done.

 

I can edit many different file types; please see my Services page for a list of software I am able to use.  I prepare a standard contract for each job I perform detailing the estimated cost and turn-around time.  Each contract also includes a non-disclosure clause, assuring you that I will not use or share your work and ideas. A 10% deposit of the total estimate is due when you sign the contract; the balance is due upon completion of the job.  Turn-around times depend on the length and complexity of a document as well as my current workload; an estimate will be given in the contract after I have viewed a sample of the document, but most jobs can be completed in 5-7 days.  I can take some rush orders depending on my current workload.  An additional rush fee of 10% of the estimated total fees will be added to your invoice for rush orders.

 

I am able to accept payment by check or any PayPal payment option (bank transfer, Visa, MasterCard, etc).  All prices are stated in US Dollars.  A $25.00 minimum is required for all jobs.

 

Proofreading: $1.95 per 250-word page; basic check for spelling, punctuation and grammar.

 

Basic Copyediting: $2.95 per 250-word page; proofreading services plus light review of sentence/paragraph structure, word choice, consistency, etc.

 

Extensive Copyediting: $3.95 per 250-word page; major re-write suggestions to improve the style, tone, structure and overall quality of the document.
